冠词分为不定冠词（a、an）和定冠词（the）。
不定冠词（a/an）
不定冠词a/an一般代表“某一个”或“某一类”事物。
其间大大都名词前用a，稀有些发音以元音音素最初的单词前an。
举个比方：
I have a pen and an apple.
我有一支钢笔和一个苹果。
Mr. Lee is an engineer.
李先生是一位工程师。
定冠词（the）
定冠词the的意思为“这（那）个”，把它放在名词前面标明特指某个特定的事物。其首要用法有以下几种：
(1)特指两边都理解的人或物：
The desk is new.
这是个新桌子。
(2)上文提过的人或事：
I have a book. The book is interesting.
我有一本书，这本书很风趣。
(3)指世界上绝无仅有的事物：
the sun 太阳 the moon 月亮 the sky 天空
(4)某些乐器名词（西洋）前：
I can play the piano.
我会弹钢琴。
(5)序数词、描述词最高档前：
Zhang Peng is the tallest boy in our class.
张鹏是咱们班里最高的男孩。
(6)姓
氏复数方法前，标明一家人：
The Whites are watching TV now.
怀特一家如今正在看电视。
(7)一些习气用语和固定表达方法中：
in the morning 在早上
in the afternoon 鄙人午
in the evening 在晚上
on the left 在左面
零冠词
还有几种特别的情况规则名词前不能加冠词：
(1)国名、地名、人名等专有名词前一般不必冠词。如Sarah(萨拉)、Shanghai(上海)、China(我国)。
(2)时节、月份、星期等名词前一般不加冠词。如in winter(在冬天)、on Monday(在周一)、in May(在五月)。
(3)三餐、饭的名词前一般不必冠词。如for breakfast(早餐)、have lunch(午饭)、eat dinner(晚餐)。
(4)球类运动和棋类运动前不加冠词。如play football(踢足球)、play chess(下棋)。
(5)节日、假期等名词前一般不必冠词。如Christmas Day(圣诞节)、Children s Day(儿童节)。
(6)名词前已有this, that, my, his, some, every等词润饰时不必冠词。如that T-shirt(那件T恤)、my brother(我的弟弟)、her key(她的钥匙)。
