Well, I don't really know much about sports. I'm not a very sporty personor very interested in sports. However, not so long ago I saw a documentary abouta famous boxer called Muhammed Ali. He was born in 1942, and I think he died afew years ago. Anyway, he became a really famous boxer in the 1960s, and beatsome of the very best boxers in the world. He was also a very good speaker, anda charismatic individual, so he also became an actor and featured in numerousfilms. In the early 1980s, however, he developed Parkinson's disease which manypeople thought had been triggered by his countless boxing injuries.
The documentary I saw traced his life from childhood to his death, and hisstory is an interesting one. He's an example of one of those people from afairly modest background, who rose to fame through a combination of hard workand determination and a certain amount of chance and personality. In the mid1960s he refused to enter into the US military to take part in the Vietnam War,as he had a moral objection to the war, and this annoyed the authoritiessomewhat, as it inspired many other fit and able men to also follow him andrefuse to go to war as well! Anyway, I find these kind of documentaries veryinteresting, and a boxer, as far as I know, is regarded as an athlete, so…that's the story of the athlete that I know a little bit about.
