Oh, there's lots of times when I have had to get up early, but the lasttime I remember very clearly was when I was on holiday on the Yangtze River on asort of boat cruise with my school. It was a really cool trip actually, and eachday we travelled down the river on the boat, and stopped off at different placesalong the way. For sightseeing in China, you usually have to get up reallyearly, you see, so every morning they woke us up just after dawn, which wasaround 5am. I wasn't very happy about this, to be honest, because I hate wakingup early, and also because we all sat up late in the bunk beds drinking beer andplaying cards, which made it even more difficult to get up early in the morningand go around the villages and temples and places. So, each and every morning onthis Yangtze cruise we had to get up at the crack of dawn, and it was quiteawful in many ways. However, I must say that once we were up and had hadbreakfast and got going it wasn't so bad, and there were fewer tourists at thedestinations, because we were often the first to be there! So, all in all, itwas probably a good idea that we were made to get up so early, even though wedidn't really enjoy it at first. I'm not much of an early bird to be honest, soalways find it difficult to get up at 7am, let alone at 5am like on this tr
ip!But, hey, that's often what you have to do on these kind of trips if you want tomiss the crowds.
