五种方法,让你的英语日日精进

Now, since I've been having a little bit of criticism, constructive criticism, over my really, really long introductions, I've decided to get straight into the video.

由于有人对我视频前的长篇介绍发表了一些批评，一些致命性的批评，所以我决定这次要直接切入视频。

So today I'm going to be teaching you five ways that you can learn English on a daily basis.

所以今天我将和你们分享五种日常学习英语的方法。

So you know, in my last video, I spoke about immersion, immersing yourself in the English language.

I'm going to be showing you some ways you can do that, on a daily basis.

I know there are a lot of videos on the internet, that talk about ways that you can fit English into your everyday life, but honestly when I watch them, I sometimes think, duh, yeah, obviously, of course I'm going to watch movies, listen to the radio, and read books.

我知道在网络上有许多的视频在谈论合适的可以将英语融入日常生活的方法，但是，说实话，我看这些视频的时候，我有时会感觉，很明显的感觉，这就像我在看电影，听广播和读书一样。

That's pretty obvious.

So I wanted to talk to you about some other ways that you might not have thought of before.

We'll see, you might have heard of some of them.

But I often think that the best ideas are the simple ones, that just simply hadn't occurred to you yet.

So, hopefully, I'm going to give you some of those today.

The long introductions, with little updates about my life, and my silly stories, let me know, and I'll put 'em back in.

But we're trying something new.

Anyway, lets get started.

The first tip is switch everything to English.

Now you know when you look at your friends phone, and you're looking for something, and you say, oy, Tom, why is this in French?

And they say, " Oh sorry, I'm just trying to learn French" .

Your friend's a very clever person.

But we can take that a step further.

So by switching all of your gadgets, I'm talking your phone, your TV, your microwave, your computer, your tablet, everything, into English, or the language that you are learning, you will be just a step closer to immersion.

通过改变你身边所有的小物品，我是在说你的微波炉，你的电脑，你的桌子，你的所有的一切，把它变成英语或者你正在学习的语言，这样的话你就会离你的梦想更近一步了。

It will also remind you, on a daily basis, that you are learning English, because it's easy to forget that you're learning a language.

I often forget that I'm learning Italian, until I see a pizza, or an aperol spritz, and I think, oh, I haven't studied anything today.

我经常忘记我在学习意大利语，直到我看到一个披萨或者一杯阿贝罗鸡尾酒我才会想起，奥，原来我今天还什么都没有学习。

Now it doesn't have to stop there.

现在是时候开始学习了，不能仅仅只停留于此。

Something that I like to do is when I buy a new piece of furniture, or I buy a new hair product, or something, you know you have all of the instructions in every single language?

我喜欢这样做，当我在购买一件新家具或者一个新的秀发产品，或者其他什么东西，你会发现这些东西的说明书是以不同文字书写的。

I try to only read the instructions in the language that I'm learning.

我尝试去读以我正在学习的语言书写的那份说明书。

And try and work out what they mean, and see if I learn some new vocabulary on the way.

尝试去搞懂它的意思，并且看一下在搞懂意思的过程中我是否还可以学习到其他词汇。

So again, this isn't groundbreaking stuff, but it's a nice way of incorporating English into your everyday life.

所以再一次强调，这并不是一个开创性的举措，但却是一种很好方式可以将英语整合到日常的学习之中。

You know if I'm reading the nutritional information on a packet of cereal, I'll read it in Italian, before I read it in English.

当我在阅读谷物包装袋上的说明书时，我会在我看英语的撰稿之前先看意大利语的描述。

Just to see how they would word something.

看一下是如何用意大利文字进行描述的。

And you can really look into it.

这样你才能完全搞懂这份说明。

You can see how in your language it's written in a certain word order, but then in English it's a different word order.

你会发现在咋们的本族语中它使用一种语言的组合顺序，但是在英语中又是另一种新的组合顺序。

It's really quite interesting.

这相当有趣。

So try that one out.

所以尝试去这样做吧。

Now the next one, learn a skill.

接下来我们要说的是要学习一种技能。

Now, we always talk about the four English skills, don't we?

现在我们总是在谈论四种英语学习的方法，是吧？

Listening, reading, speaking, writing.

听，读，说和写。

That's what we're always examined on in our tests at school.

这是我们在学校的考试中必须要测试的部分。

But I'm not talking about practising one of these skills in English.

但是我并不是说用英语来练习每一种技能。

I'm talking about another skill, like a hobby.

我想表达的是另一种技能，例如爱好。

Take a hobby, and learn it in English.

培养一个兴趣爱好，然后在学习英语的过程中学习它。

I personally find it very, very boring to sit down with a book, and learn, and dedicate myself, I'm much more likely to learn a language if I'm doing something that I enjoy.

我自我认为这样很无聊如果仅仅只是静坐下来去看书，去学习，去投入我自己，和这种比起来我更喜欢在我做我想做的事情的同时去学习一种语言。

And I spoke about this in my how I learned Spanish video, the thing I enjoyed was my ex-boyfriend. . .

在录制的有关我如何学习西班牙语的视频中我提及到了这种方法，我的兴趣爱好便是我的前男友……

Not that. . .

Yes. . .

The thing I enjoyed was conversing with my ex-boyfriend.

我喜欢做的就是和我的前男友做对。

So I was doing that in the language I was learning, but I didn't even realise it at the time, but I was really, really improving my Spanish skills.

所以我就用我正在学习的语言来做这件事，但是我并没有意识到在这个过程中，我确实提升了我的西语的水平。

And you can do this too with English.

你也可以把这种方法落实到你的英语学习中。

Something I'm really interested in is cooking.

有时候我特别喜欢烹饪。

So I like to take Italian dishes, and read Italian recipes, and follow Italian instructions, and watch Italian recipe videos.

所以我也就自然而然喜欢做意大利菜肴，读意大利食谱，看意大利语的说明书，看意大利的美食节目。

If I make an Italian dish, once a week, then that's about an hour and a half, or an hour, of Italian immersion, every week.

如果我每周做一次意大利菜，那么我每周就会学习一个半小时或者一个小时的意大利语。

So that's a really nice way of incorporating that language into your everyday, or your weekly life.

所以，这也是一种很好的方法来把语言融入到你的每日生活或者每周生活之中。

Maybe you could set out an English night where you try to make an English, or American, or Australian dish, our food really, really isn't that bad.

你其实可以尝试一个英语的夜晚，在这个夜晚中你在尝试做英国，或者美国，或者意大利的食物，我们国家的食物确实不怎么样。

Especially our puddings, and our cake.

尤其是布丁，以及蛋糕。

If I have a recipe to recommend to you, I would say try making brownies, which is an American recipe, or sticky toffee pudding, which is, I think, I'm pretty sure, it's an English recipe.

如果让我向你推荐一个美国特色，那便是布朗尼，这是美国特色，或者说是发粘的咖啡布丁，这个，我很确定它是美国的特色。

We always have it at English dinner parties.

我们在美国的晚宴中总会吃到它。

But there are loads of skills you could learn, strictly in English.

严格地讲，你可以用英语去学习许多技能。

You could learn to knit, in English.

你可以用英语去学着编织。

You could play board games, in English.

你可以用英语去打棋盘游戏。

As long as it's something consistent that you do on a daily, or weekly basis, in English, you're so much more likely to take it seriously, because it's something that you genuinely enjoy.

只要有一些东西是你用英语每天或者每周坚持做的你就应该去认真对待，因为这些东西是你发自内心的本能就喜欢。

Tip number three is use an app, or programme, on a daily basis, to improve your English.

第三条建议是在日常生活中使用一个app或者一个小程序来提升英语水平。

So it's all very well attending a language course, or a language school, once a week, twice a week, but something else that's really, really helpful is doing a little bit every day.

一周一次或者一周两次参加一个语言课程或者上一次语言课程是有用的，但是更有用的是每天都做一点点。

Number four is one of my favourite words, multitasking.

I always talk about multitasking, because multitasking has changed my life.

I was never productive, I never got anything done, I would always prioritise my leisure time, over my work, and once I learnt to multitask, I realised that I could have leisure time and do the things I was obliged to do, at the same time.

我从未积极，也从未做成过什么，我总是把我的休闲时间放到比工作还重要的第一位，但是自从我了解到多任务执行，我开始意识到我可以同时用我的空闲时间去做一些我的义务工作。

And you can do this too.

你也可以这样做。

I want you to learn to multitask effectively, and use that to improve your English.

我'想让你们学习有效的多任务执行并用这种方法来提升自己的英语。

So.

所以。

Think of the mundane tasks that you do everyday.

想一下你每天都做的世俗的事实。

Obviously commuting is a big thing.

很显然，乘公交上下班是一件大事。

Going on public transport.

去到公共交通场合。

For me, it's something that takes a massive, massive chunk out of my day is. . .

对我而言，花费我大量时间的是……

It's my hair and make up.

是在做我的发型以及化妆。

I have to be on camera.

我必须站在镜头前。

I like to look a certain way on camera.

我希望我在镜头前是像样的。

So I have to spend a little while doing my hair,

and doing my makeup.

所以我必须花费一定的时间来做发型，化妆。

And I find it really, really boring.

我发现这真的很无聊。

I enjoy hair and makeup, but every single day it feels like such a waste of time.

我喜欢做发型但是每天都做就有点像是浪费时间了。

So, I started watching educational videos, whilst I was doing my hair and makeup, because I didn't have to concentrate 100% on what I was doing.

所以我开始在我做头发和化妆的时候看教育类节目，我之所以选择看节目是因为我不能保证我百分之百投入于我正在干的事实。

So, for me, the thing I'm learning at the moment is about filming, and video production.

所以，对于我来说，我现在学习的就是拍摄和制作影片。

I'm trying to make my quality better.

我在努力去使我的录像的质量变好。

I'm really, really trying.

我确实在努力。

And so that's very time consuming, and I have to watch whole videos to learn one small skill, so I'll have them on, whilst I'm doing my hair and makeup, and I'm learning something, whilst doing something I have to do.

但

这是十分耗时的，我必须看整个视频才能学习一项小技能，所以我就在我做发型个化装的时候来学习这项技能，所以我在做我每天重复做的事情的同时学习了新的技能。

But, another really, really cool thing is that I'll see a video that's maybe 30 minutes long, and I will challenge myself to complete my hair and makeup in those 30 minutes.

但是，另外一件相当酷的事情便是如果我在看的这个视频是30分钟，我便会努力让自己在30分钟之内做好我的发型重设化好妆。

So you're saving time.

这样的话你便节省了时间。

You're doing something you have to do.

你在做一些你不得不做的事情。

And you're learning something new, do it with English, there are so many fantastic English Youtubers, or English TV programmes, the world is your oyster.

同时你也学到了新的东西。把这用到英语的学习中吧，有这么多有趣的英语油管视频，或者英语节目，整个世界都会尽收眼底。

Go for it.

努力吧。

It can really, really transform your productivity, as it did with mine.

如果你同我一样这样做的话确实可以转化你的成果。

Now, number five is something that can improve your grammar, your vocabulary, your pronunciation, your speaking, your listening, your writing, your reading, it can genuinely improve everything.

第五个小贴士便是你这样做可以提升你的语法，你的词汇，发音，听说读写技能，这个确实是可以提升你的所有东西。

And this is identifying where you are lacking.

这便是意识到你所真正缺乏的东西。

And this is something you will have heard me mention before in videos, but I'm reiterating it, and repeating it, because I think it's so, so, so important.

这些东西你可能在视频前就发现我已经提到过了，但是我要在这里再说一次，再重复一次，因为我认为这很重要。

You might have heard me say before don't wait for somebody to educate you, educate yourself.

你可能'之前听我谈到过不要等别人来教你，自己教自己。

Don't sit in a classroom and wait for a teacher to teach you the present simple.

不要坐在教室里等老师教你一般现在时。

Teach it to yourself.

自己教自己。

And identifying where you are lacking really plays a big part in this.

意识到自己的不足之处在英语学习的过程中是很重要的。

On a daily basis, if you're using a little bit of your English language, and you see that you're really. . .

在日常生活中，如果你你使用一点英语，你会发现你十分……

You can't use the conditional, write it down, and make a note that that day you are going to study what you don't understand.

你不会使用条件句，那就把它记下来，做一个有关于今天的笔记，你将会去学习你不懂的部分。

The next day, if you were listening to the news, and they were talking about a storm, and you really couldn't understand what they were saying, that day you have to study storm vocabulary.

第二天，当你在听新闻的时候，他们在讲暴风雨。你不能理解他们在讲什么，那么今天你就必须学习暴风雨这个单词。

The next day, if you're having a conversation with somebody from Scotland, and you're really struggling to understand their pronunciation, that day you have to revise Scottish pronunciation,

and then, instead of being in a classroom of 30 people, who are all studying the same thing, you could call it one size fits all, one teacher is giving knowledge to everyone, some may need it, some may not.

第三天，当你在和苏格兰人谈话时，你确实很难懂他们的发音，那么今天或者之后你就必须重温一下威尔士发音，而不是坐在一个30个人的教室，大家学着一样的东西，我们把这叫做一刀切，一个老师教授所有同学一样知识，有些人需要这些知识，有着人并不需要。

You are taking in the knowledge that you need, nothing more, and nothing less, and day by day you will start improving so much more quickly than your peers.

你在学习你所需要的'知识，不要太多也不要太少，一天天后，你会比你的同事进步得更快。

So I do think that number five is my favourite tip, actually, in English, identifying where you're lacking, and then educating yourself.

所以，我真的认为第五种方法是我最喜欢的方法，事实上，英语的学习过程就是找出你所薄弱的环节接下来自己教自己。

There are all the resources in the world, on the internet, you can have private teachers, you can use grammar videos, like the ones on ABBA English.
