英语学科复习的重点应该从词汇开始，没有牢固的词汇基础是无法战胜高考这种选拔性的考试。可以说，词汇基础决定着你能考的分数。很多学生抱怨英语阅读理解句子长，看不懂；抱怨英语作文太难写不出，不知道怎么遣词造句。其实这些都和基础有特别大的关系，对于基础薄弱的学生来说，刷题并不是最好的选择，时间应该花在高频词组上。
今天继续学习三个高频词组！
1.out of date
这是专栏《高考英语高频词组》第四十三个与“date”有关。
“date”有两个词性，做名词时是“日期”，做动词时是“过时，不流行”，高考英语常考的是以下几个搭配：out of date; up to date; date from; date back to等，下面我们分别来看。
out of date 即“过时的;缺乏新信息的” （可以做表语，也可以做定语修饰名词）例句：
1.虽然他已经退休多年了，但他仍坚持学习让自己的思想不落伍。
Although he has been retired for many years, he still insists on learning to make his mind not out of date.
2.由于缺乏经济支持，这个学校还能看到陈旧的设备。
Due to the lack of economy
support, out of date equipment can be still seen in the school.
up to date即“新式的；现代的；最新的”（有时也写做up-to-date）中译英练习：
1.他是一个富有创造力的设计师，他的设计紧跟时代前沿。
He is a creative designer and his designs are up to date.
date back to，即“可追溯到”，这是一个高考阅读理解高频词组，尤其是历史文化类的文章中，可以和date from同义替换。英译中练习：The beginnings of MS-13 date from the 1980s, when more than a million Salvadoran refugees fled their war-wracked homeland for safe haven in the United States.
